Great for Weather Watchers.

By customer "B MCGUIGAN" on March 6, 2016
Although a bit expensive, this makes watching the current environmental conditions interesting (even moreso when it comes to following historical data). The data collected by other users can also be useful when planning a trip anywhere. I would love to add to the system but the price makes it prohibitive!

More than a toy!

I bought this for my son's birthday, and he is absolutely delighted with it. He uses it with his Apple Watch, and it works beautifully.

Great looks and reliable performance. You won't be disapointed.

I considered the Netatmo weather station when it was first released, a couple of years ago now, but was put off because there was no wind or rain modules available. With the release of the rain module last year and the imminent release of the wind module decided to take the plunge. The weather station was very easy to setup and looks and performs very well. Technical support from Netamo usually takes a couple of days and in the event of a problem can make a remote connection, with your consent, to diagnose any problems. I've had no problems myself but having read other reviews thought that I'd try them out before purchasing the item. I've downloaded the app to my iPhone 6S Plus and iPad Air 2 and confirm that the push notifications work correctly. I have also added the rain gauge, separate review, and eagerly await the release of the wind module.

Please note:
To avoid being *'filtered' from the Netatmo weather map ensure that the external module is installed in a shaded area. It may be a good idea to check your readings with other weather stations in the area to ensure the module is in a shaded area throughout the day. If the module is installed correctly and it is still not visible on the weather map, with the filter selected to the on position, then contact Netatmo who will make the amendment.

* If you view the Netamo weather map in your web browser you can select the filter on/off. It is located within the wheel/cog symbol at the bottom of the screen on the right hand side. The weather stations that show when the filter is in the off position are those weather stations that are not installed correctly and generally give the wrong information.

I noticed that the C02 light which lights up Red, Yellow or Green was stuck on Red and after contacting Netatmo support who made a remote connection to the device told me that the unit was faulty. I had concerns about the Netatmo weather station when I received it because the seal was broken on the box and all of the parts had clearly been out and were not pristine like the rain gauge that I purchased at the same time. I immediatey contacted Amazon who told me there was no more stock but would give me a small discount and assured me the item was still fully gaurenteed, no problem. I took a screen shot of the order and it clearly shows that the item was new so I have no idea how I've ended up with sub standard, used, goods. It now appears, after speaking with Amazon, that having accepted the discount changes my rights. I'm now stuck with a faulty item that will cost me two thirds of the purchase price to post back to them fully insured.

Set up easy. Results clear. Really useful to see actual weather data in other locations when owners allow sharing of outside data.

Fantastic weather station

By customer "Paul B" on August 6, 2015
I think this is a fantastic setup. The two units themselves appear well built and robust. They are also stylish too but much smaller than you might expect.

The indoor unit just sits on a shelf, plugged into the mains. It connects to your WiFi and I had no problems setting it up.

The outdoor unit could just be placed outside somewhere secure. However there are two fixing options. One is simply a screw that's provided. However, it also comes with a velcro strap with a plug that hooks into the back of the unit. As the outdoor unit is relatively small, I found this the best solution for me - I put the strap around a drainpipe, hooked on the outdoor unit and then tucked it behind the pipe to protect it from the worst of the weather and the sun. You wouldn't know it was even there. There are a number of brick walls between the outdoor unit and the indoor unit but they seem to connect together just fine.

In terms of the weatherproofing of the outdoor unit, it does look pretty robust. The batteries are well tucked away behind a cover with thumb screws to hold it on. I don't see how it's going to be affected by rain or snow.

I've accessed it using the Android app which works fine and displays all the information. In portrait mode you can see the current status of both the indoor and outdoor unit. In landscape mode you can see the history of any measure. I also use the web site which, in my opinion, is the best way of getting a view of what's going on. The website also allows you to download the raw data if you want to do your own things with the information collected.

The outdoor unit captures the temperature and humidity. It also reports on the air quality although this comes from the web rather than being monitored by the device.

The indoor unit also captures temperature and humidity. It also captures air pressure, CO2 and sound levels. I found the CO2 and sound levels particularly interesting, The CO2 sensor is so sensitive I can tell when someone enters the house and how many people there are. The sound levels are sensitive enough to shows the 1dB difference between the background noise during the day and at night.

Netamo is supported by IFTTT (If This Then That) which opens up all sorts of possibilities. In theory you could set up a dehumidifier to switch on automatically if the room was too humid, or to turn the TV off is the kids are being too noisy, or alert you when there are people in the house. You can also start to do clever things by using IFTTT to get Netamo to control a smart thermostat like Nest.

The unit can also be extended by adding up to 3 additional sensors (which are battery powered) to measure temperature, humidity and CO2. You can add a Rain Gauge module and there is also a new Wind Gauge module available. It covers everything much larger weather stations do but in a far more discrete and stylish package.

Excellent IOS compatible weather station

By customer "CaptainGrim" on June 16, 2015
Really like this system. It's simple to install and the IOS app is really easy to use (better on IPad due to size.) The features which elevate it beyond a simple weather station such as the sound meter and the pollution monitor are what really set it apart from others.
